A Abertura do 12º FICBC é composta de 2 momentos que levam diferentes experiências para todo o público presente. O primeiro é a cerimônia de abertura, que busca levar informações importantes e essenciais para o entendimento do Festival. O segundo é a homenagem a Ladislas Starewicz com a obra “O Treinador de Insetos”.

A Encerramento do 12º FICBC é formado de uma cerimônia de premiação revelando os melhores filmes da edição, além de homenagem ao Prof. Dr. Rafael Bona e homenagem a Ladislas Starewicz com “O Rato da Cidade e o Rato do Campo” (10’), “A Revolta do Cinegrafista” (12’), “O Canto do Rouxinol” (12’) e com música ao vivo de Diogo de Haro.

É a principal janela do festival onde são exibidos filmes inéditos. A curadoria busca apresentar filmes de diretores estreantes ou consolidados que estimulem diferentes tipos de sensibilidade. Algumas sessões apresentam a primeira exibição no Brasil, na América Latina ou no Mundo e terão bate-papo ao final do filme.

But now granddaughter Monika (34) appears out of nowhere and decides to save the family farm regardless of her high school diploma, year-long stays abroad and a completed degree. Her sister and director of this film Hannah Schweier (39) isn’t too happy about her sister’s idea. Until that moment their lives and dreams were inseparably connected, but as Monika works on the farm, she has no more free time. That’s why Hannah sets out to find out what drives her sister and whether she will be able to truly find happiness.

The Cloud & The Man is the story of a guy called Manik who lives in the crumbling city of Kolkata. JAIR RODRIGUES – LET THEM SAY is a documentary project that will tell the story of Jair Rodrigues, one of the most important singers of Brazilian popular music. From samba to MPB, through rap and sertanejo, he was one of the most versatile Brazilian interpreters, and left a vast body of work, marked by a series of successes. Born in 1939, in Igarapava – SP, the son of a humble family, he moved with his family to Nova Europa the following year and, a few years later, to São Carlos. It was in the interior of São Paulo that Jair Rodrigues began to sing, in freshman shows on local radio stations. But it was only with his arrival in São Paulo, in 1959, that the singer emerged. Singing in famous nightclubs of the time, he caught the attention of music businessmen and soon signed a contract with Phillips. In 1962 he recorded the first disc; the following year, he won the São Paulo revelation sambista award; in 1964, he released his second album, O SAMBA COMO ELE É, which would change his life forever. One of the songs on the album was a huge success and launched Jair Rodrigues to stardom: DEIXA ISSO PRA LÁ, a contagious rap that conquered Brazil. From then on, Jair Rodrigues’ career took off like a rocket. Still in the 1960s, he presented a TV show alongside Elis Regina, being until today one of the only black presenters in the history of Brazilian TV. In 1966, he won the popular Song Festival, with the song DISPARADA, a milestone in his career. In the following decade, he toured outside Brazil; in the 1980s, it reinvented itself, as it embarked on and became successful with country music. He worked until the end of his life, recording records and performing at shows, in addition to having shone as an actor in the film SUPER NADA. His talent and charisma ensured him decades of success. JAIR RODRIGUES – LET THEM SAY intends to map the artist’s trajectory, highlighting his joy and irreverence, which infected audiences and influenced later generations of artists.

SINOPSE / Synopsis: FLUXOS traz um olhar íntimo sobre a vida de três personagens que vivem a realidade dos sem-teto na chamada “Cracolândia” de São Paulo.
“Dentinho” é um artista de rua que luta contra o consumo de crack. França é um cavador de valas nômade que passou por várias cidades morando em albergues públicos até se estabelecer em São Paulo, onde descobriu sua vocação política. Janaína é uma usuária de drogas reformada e moradora de um prédio ocupado nos arredores de Crackland que luta para criar seus nove filhos.
O filme (feito por um diretor que trabalha há muito tempo na Crackland) também retrata serviços públicos e manifestações culturais realizadas na região. Sua narrativa emerge de dentro da região para seguir os caminhos, as dificuldades e os sonhos das pessoas ali. No processo, pinta um retrato multifacetado de uma realidade complexa e revela subjetividades das ruas até então desconhecidas.
FLUXES gives an intimate look at the lives of three characters living the realities of homelessness within the so-called “Crackland” region of São Paulo.
“Dentinho” (“Toothy”) is a street artist who fights against crack consumption. França is a nomadic ditchdigger who has passed through several cities while living in public hostels until settling down in São Paulo, where he has discovered his political vocation. Janaína is a reformed drug user and resident of an occupied building on the outskirts of Crackland who struggles to raise her nine children.
The film (made by a director who has long worked in Crackland) also depicts public services and cultural demonstrations held in the area. Its narrative emerges from within the region to follow the paths, hardships, and dreams of the people there. In the process, it paints a multifaceted portrait of a complex reality and reveals previously unknown subjectivities of the streets.

Moved by the dream of being a great actress, she becomes obsessed with the part, watching her own videos again and again, in an effort that never seems like enough. Slowly enthralled by her own self-tapes, her obsession begins to affect her psyche as she attempts unexpected solutions to her acting “problem”.

Seu resgate chegou da direção menos esperada. Marajá de Nawanagar constrói um campo de refugiados para crianças polonesas. No final da guerra, ele também adota todos os menores do campo, para que não fiquem sob a jurisdição comunista do novo governo polonês controlado por Stalin. Este webdoc multimídia conta uma história autêntica de Wiesław Stypuła usando histórias em quadrinhos, animação e materiais de arquivo.
An exceptional story of a 10-year-old Wiesio, one of thousands of Polish children who were saved from the hell of WWII by an Indian Maharajah. On Easter 1940 the boy, along with his mother and brother, was arrested by the NKVD and deported to Siberia. He shared the dramatic fate of thousands of Polish deportees. His rescue arrived from the least expected direction. Maharaja of Nawanagar builds a refugee camp for Polish children. At the end of the war, he also adopts all the minors from the countryside, so that they do not fall under the communist jurisdiction of the new Polish government controlled by Stalin. This multimedia webdoc tells an authentic story of Wiesław Stypuła using comics, animation and archival materials.

SINOPSE / Synopsis: Um conto de fadas moderno sobre caça sonora. “Frequências de pesca” conta a história de Audrius Simkunas, um artista de gravação de campo e músico, que vive em uma pequena cidade da Lituânia, Utena, onde grava extensivamente seus arredores por mais de 20 anos. Ele coleta todos os tipos de sons – de morcegos, ruídos de pântanos, criaturas subaquáticas a sons industriais – prédios abandonados vazios, ruídos da cidade, sons de circuitos elétricos, etc. .
A modern fairytale about sound hunting. “Fishing frequencies” tells the story of Audrius Simkunas, a field recording artist and a musician, who lives in a small town of Lithuania, Utena, where he extensively records his surroundings for over 20 years. He collects all kinds of sounds – from bats, swamp noises, underwater creatures to industrial sounds – empty abandoned buildings, city noises, electric circuit sounds, etc. He describes his activity rather as “a listening experience” than “recording” or capturing one.

SINOPSE / Synopsis: Walt Whitman é um dos poetas mais importantes da literatura americana. Sua principal obra, Leaves of Grass, foi escrita ao longo de quarenta anos e descreve a natureza humana, a sociedade e o mundo natural, tanto física quanto filosoficamente.
Muitos especularam sobre a vida privada de Whitman até hoje. Whitman nunca escreveu publicamente sobre seus relacionamentos pessoais. Em 1860, ele publicou seu poema “Uma vez que passei por uma cidade populosa”, um relato aforístico de um relacionamento romântico com uma mulher desconhecida. Em 1925, foi descoberta a cópia original manuscrita do poema, na qual Whitman escreve, no entanto, não sobre uma mulher, mas sobre um caso com um homem em uma cidade anônima, que pode ter sido sua primeira experiência física de amor. Whitman não se atreveu a publicar a versão original de seu poema, por causa dos preconceitos sociais de sua época. Até hoje, apenas a versão alterada é impressa na maioria das antologias.
“Uma vez que passei” é dedicado, por um lado, ao contexto obviamente autobiográfico com todo o seu drama pessoal, e por outro lado ao conteúdo do próprio poema, a história profundamente silenciosa, mas poderosa, de dois amantes.
Walt Whitman is one of the most important poets in American literature. His main work, Leaves of Grass, was written over forty years and describes human nature, society and the natural world, both physically and philosophically.
Many have speculated about Whitman’s private life to this day. Whitman has never publicly written about his personal relationships. In 1860 he published his poem “Once I Passed Through a Populous City”, an aphoristic account of a romantic relationship with an unknown woman. In 1925, the original manuscript copy of the poem was discovered, in which Whitman writes, however, not about a woman, but about an affair with a man in an anonymous town, which may have been his first physical experience of love. Whitman did not dare to publish the original version of his poem, because of the social prejudices of his day. To this day, only the amended version is printed in most anthologies.
“Once I Passed” is devoted, on the one hand, to the obviously autobiographical context with all its personal drama, and on the other hand to the content of the poem itself, the profoundly silent but powerful story of two lovers.

The Dew and The River tells a small part of Marcelo’s life, which a year after the end of his relationship he returns to the place where he lived part of that relation. It is winter, the house is in a clearing. The grass is high and the garden is abandoned. Inside the house there are several boxes scattered around the room, old things in the corners. In the kitchen the fire burns gently on the iron stove. Near the house runs a river, where Marcelo takes refuge from the confusion of memories that accompanies him. The encounter with the past is the necessary fuse to move forward.

SINOPSE / Synopsis: Rongqiang Xiao (Filho), de 27 anos, ainda vive em sua casa de infância, com seu pai alcoólatra (Pai) e mãe amorosa, mas pegajosa (Mãe). Neste dia, uma espécie de praga zumbi se espalha em sua comunidade, e transforma humanos em zumbis com obsessões.
Pai vira zumbi e só deixa de ser agressivo quando recebe álcool. A princípio, a mãe se recusa a fugir de casa e buscar ajuda, porque se sente envergonhada de deixar o mundo saber do problema familiar. O comportamento agravante do pai e a atitude passiva da mãe desencadeiam o trauma de infância do filho com o qual ele ainda vive todos os dias. Quando Filho finalmente convence a Mãe a fugir com ele, ela é mordida pelo Pai, e logo se transforma em um zumbi também, que precisa se agarrar constantemente ao Filho para ser apaziguado.
Filho aprende a viver com seus pais zumbis, mas acaba se cansando. Desta vez, ele escapa com sucesso para a rua e encontra funcionários do governo, que ajudam os cidadãos necessitados e expurgam zumbis. No entanto, preocupado e hesitante, Son encobre seu “problema familiar” e se afasta da ajuda dos funcionários. Como muitas vezes antes, Son escolhe voltar para sua casa de infância.
Afinal, toda família tem um esqueleto no armário.
The 27-year-old Rongqiang Xiao (Son) still lives at his childhood home, with his alcoholic father (Father) and loving but clingy mother (Mother). On this day, a kind of zombie plague spreads in his community, and turns humans into zombies with obsessions.
Father becomes a zombie and only stops being aggressive when given alcohol. At first, Mother refuses to flee home and get help, because she feels ashamed to let the world know their family problem. Father’s aggravating behavior and Mother’s passive attitude trigger Son’s childhood trauma that he still lives with every day. When Son finally persuades Mother to escape with him, she is bitten by Father, and soon turns into a zombie too, who needs to constantly cling to Son in order to be appeased.
Son learns to live with his zombie parents, but he is eventually fed up. This time, he successfully escapes to the street and finds government officials, who help citizens in need and purge zombies. However, worried and hesitating, Son covers up his “family problem” and turns away from the officials’ help. Like many times before, Son chooses to return to his childhood home.
After all, every family has a skeleton in the closet.
