SINOPSE / Synopsis: Todos os Mortos se passa em uma São Paulo em 1899, onde onze anos após a abolição da escravidão, fantasmas ainda caminham entre os vivos. Já Iná Nascimento, mulher que viveu por muito tempo a escravidão, batalha para reunir seus familiares em um mundo ainda muito hostil. Cada uma dessas mulheres tentam construir um futuro próprio à sua maneira.

All the Dead takes place in São Paulo in 1899, where eleven years after the abolition of slavery, ghosts still walk among the living. The women of the Soares family, former landowners, do not give up what remains of their privileges. Iná Nascimento, a woman who lived through slavery for a long time, struggles to reunite her family in a world that is still very hostile. Each of these women tries to build their own future in their own way.

There’s a beautiful island in the Baltic Sea, where a group of sailors built their own kingdom. They had it all: seventeen acres of land, endless freedom and a donkey called Geronimo – until their community fell apart. Awoken from an utopian dream, the sailors return to the mainland and to the very society they wanted to escape from. Now they live on rusty ships in an anonymous German harbor town, out of work and out of luck. Each of them is haunted by the island’s dark and compelling promise. Can they ever break through the spell it cast on them? A film with floating contours, a story of stranded sailors and malediction, fed by the imaginary world of the desert island and community-based utopias: «A Donkey Called Geronimo» is a documentary poem that creates a shattered image of utopia, while exploring the boundary between myth and reality.

The police investigation turns up nothing and the residents grow increasingly speculative about the possible cause. Remarkably enough, Nona’s small home is undamaged. Whilst more and more houses go up in flames, this intriguing protagonist displays the different sides of her character: Nona the grandmother, Nona the friend, Nona the anarchist, Nona the storyteller, joker, liar – and Nona the firebrand.

Mais de 20 anos após a transferência, muitos dos documentos relativos à negociação sino-britânica foram finalmente divulgados – e eles revelam muitos detalhes que os habitantes de Hong Kong nunca conheceram. “Home, and a Distant Archive” retrata as quatro mulheres a bordo em Londres que se ofereceram como voluntárias para Decoding Hong Kong’s History, um projeto que digitaliza os documentos do Arquivo Nacional Britânico e suas idéias sobre identidade, diáspora e sua casa em tempos difíceis.

Before the British handed Hong Kong to China in 1997, the British government has transferred many sensitive colonial documents to its archive in London. More than 20 years after the handover, many of the documents concerning the Sino-British negotiation are finally released – and they reveal a lot of details which Hong Kongers have never known. “Home, and a Distant Archive” portrays the four women aboard in London who volunteered for Decoding Hong Kong’s History, a project digitalizing the documents from the British National Archives, and their thoughts on identity, diaspora and their home in troubled times.

Os primeiros desejos, o despertar da sexualidade, o fervo da juventude gay num país sob a ditadura militar, a devastação da epidemia da AIDS, o enfrentamento das perdas e do estigma, a festa como território de resistência, estão presentes e registradas no filme, que é também uma reflexão sobre a passagem do tempo e o envelhecer do homem gay no Brasil.

The first desires, the awakening of sexuality, the gay youth scenario in a country under the military dictatorship, the devastation of the AIDS epidemic, the challenge of facing losses and stigma, the parties as a territory of resistance, are present and recorded in the film, which is also a reflection of the time passing and the aging of a gay men in Brazil.

Um dia ele encontra um cadáver e um caderno de desenho próximo a ele. Ele vai ao parque e tenta desenhar árvores. É quando um vigarista o encontra e o leva para conhecer uma mulher que sonha em ter um retrato lindo dela. O cara começa a trabalhar no retrato, se acostuma com sua nova vida confortável e deixa de reconhecer o amigo do passado. A mulher gosta do retrato, ela e o artista começam a se aproximar, o que irrita gravemente o mordomo, que envenena o cara e o manda de volta para o aterro totalmente cego.

A young guy lives in a landfill. During the day he and his friend look for scrap metal to sell, in the evening he draws and dreams of finding a good pair of shoes. One day he finds a dead body and a sketchbook next to it. He goes to the park and tries to draw trees. This is when a conman finds him and takes him to meet a woman who dreams of having an exquisite portrait of hers. The guy begins working on the portrait, gets used to his new comfortable life and stops recognising his friend from the past. The woman likes the portrait, she and the artist start to get close, which seriously annoys her butler, who poisons the guy and sends him back to the landfill completely blind.

Alguns deles têm planos maiores, querem viver ao mar e comprar novos imóveis. Alguns estão estressados. O que os bebês podem comer? Pepino? Tudo bem com salmão? Um pai, Jon, está trabalhando como professor. O diretor de sua escola chama alguns pais para manter seus filhos em casa para que não prejudiquem as pontuações no teste nacional. Os adultos estão sob pressão. Eles preenchem formulários sobre sintomas de ansiedade e papéis de divórcio. Afundando em cadeiras de terapia e deitando nos sofás um do outro. An avant-gardist hybrid, a fiction film looking like a documentary or a non-film – We Are Here Now is a peculiar piece.–.. that is hard to categorize: We follow a group of babies and parents during a year in their Scandinavian maternity leave. Some of them have bigger plans, they want to move to the ocean and buy new properties. Some are stressed. What can babies eat? Cucumber? Is it ok with salmon? One father, Jon, is working as a teacher. The principal at his school call some parents to keep their children home so they won’t drag down the scores on the National test. The grown-ups are under pressure. They fill out forms on anxiety symptoms and divorce- papers. Sinking down in therapy-chairs and lying in each other’s couches. The fragile nuclear- family structures are cracking down and other grown-ups step up to help. The babies are there, present in every picture, witnessing. One of the babies is played by an adult.

SINOPSE / Synopsis: A obra tem como foco o dia de um homem idoso que viveu toda a sua vida na mesma cidade. Enquanto respira com dificuldade, ele executa suas rotinas – comer e verificar as contas. Sons de suas conversas durante o sono se sobrepõem às suas atividades físicas, tendo como pano de fundo cenas de sua antiga residência e uma variedade de ambientes naturais. Atividades físicas durante o dia e conversas durante a noite podem ser os únicos vigores que o velho, que está quase com 100 anos, pode mostrar. Este vídeo ilumina os ambientes onde vive a partir de uma visão distante e de médio alcance, proporcionando uma sensação de distância visual. Por meio do processo de observação das atividades físicas e dos ambientes de convivência de um idoso sob múltiplos ângulos, o trabalho questiona as visões sobre a própria velhice e moradia, bem como condições de vida.

The work focuses on the daytime of an old man, who has lived his entire life in the same town. While breathing hard, he performs his routines – eating meals and checking the bills. Sounds of his sleep talking overlap with his physical activities against the backdrop of scenes of his old residence and a variety of natural environments. Physical activities during the day and sleep talking during the night may be the only vigors that the old man, who is almost at the age of 100, can show. This video illuminates his living environments from a distant and medium-range view, providing a sense of visual distance. Through the process of observing the physical activities and living environments of an old man from multiple angles, the work questions the views on one’s own old age and dwelling as well as conditions of life.

SINOPSE / Synopsis: Em 1958, o Pavilhão Philips, projetado por Iannis Xenakis e Le Corbusier, fez parte da Expo ’58 em Bruxelas, apresentando um espetáculo multimídia à frente de seu tempo. Os detalhes arquitetônicos, combinados com uma instalação audiovisual, criaram uma experiência multissensorial futurística inesperada para os espectadores da época. O edifício foi demolido em 1959. Sessenta anos depois, o duo de música experimental Sintodrama visitou e explorou o antigo local realizando e coletando dados audiovisuais do ambiente atual. Todo o material extraído da visita foi transformado em uma instalação sonora virtual interativa.

In 1958, the Philips Pavilion, designed by Iannis Xenakis and Le Corbusier , was part of the Expo ’58 in Brussels housing a multimedia spectacle ahead of its time. The architectural details, combined with an audiovisual installation, created an unexpected futuristic multisensory experience in the expectators at that time. The building was demolished in 1959. Sixty years later, the experimental music duo Sintodrama visited and explored the former location performing and collecting audio-visual data of the current environment. All the extracted material from the visit was transformed into a virtual interactive sound installation.

A NEW NORMAL is a stereoscopic essay film that examines the question how to go on when everything has changed.
 A young man wanders through deserted landscapes. A narrator recounts fragments of an everyday life following catastrophe. Stories start out as banal episodes but reveal various strategies to engage with a profound crisis of identity. The 3D images are both an artistic and a narrative choice: they serve as a window into his thoughts and attempts to develop a new sense of normalcy.

Os meninos da sua idade iam para alto-mar e herdavam dos pais a lida com as redes da pesca. Dinho, escondido, aprendia a rendar a tramoia com a prima Nezinha. Aprendeu cedo a força do preconceito contra sua orientação sexual. Rodou mundo. Foi muitas coisas. É um dos precursores da arte de travestir-se no Carnaval, festa que fez crescer em sua praia de origem, em Florianópolis. Hoje, o centro de seu mundo é a renda de bilro. Dinho Rendeiro conta sua história direto do Pântano do Sul.

At the Lace-makers’ Shop a deep voice stands out amongst the gentle clatter of lacing sticks. It is Dinho, a man that while still young in the 60’s, challenged the traditions of a fisherman’s village in southern Brazil. While all the boys would go out to sea and inherit fishing from their fathers, Dinho secretly learned how to weave Portuguese lace with his cousin Nezinha. Early on he also learned about the bigotry surrounding his sexual orientation. He spun the globe and played many parts: personal waiter for the São Paulo governor, Lambada dance instructor in Canada, 24/7 ambulance driver and bar owner, to name a few. One of the precursors of cross-dressing in Toronto’s Caribana, this superlative man also fostered a major carnival event on the sands of Florianópolis, island where he was born. Coming full circle, today the center of his world is weaving: he is Lace-maker Dinho and talks about his extraordinary life’s story.

SINOPSE / Synopsis: É a documentação artística da inteligência estética da revoada. No meio do filme, dá a impressão de que os pássaros faziam suas rondas apenas para as câmeras, seguindo a orientação do diretor. Esses seis minutos consistem essencialmente em um plano sequência, que foi ajustada ao quadro de edição com precisão e com apenas alguns cortes. Os pássaros são arte!

It is the artistic documentation of aesthetic swarm intelligence. The middle part of the essay film gives the impression that the starlings did their meditative rounds only for my cameras after my direction. These six minutes essentially consist of an en bloc shot, which I adjusted to the track frame-accurately with only a few cuts. I leave the stage to the swarms of starlings, they are art! It’s about perception.

A festa da aldeia anuncia a chegada da primavera, ao som do “boudègue”, uma gaita de foles feita de pele de cabra. Este pequeno documentário aborda um dia em uma fazenda no sul da França e explora a relação entre o ser humano e a natureza. Crianças e animais brincam juntos enquanto os pastores cuidam de seus rebanhos, em perfeita harmonia. É assim que as tradições occitanas são perpetuadas em Hérault.

Between the equinox and the solstice, the sheep are stripped of their wool coats in preparation for the summer. In Issanka, on the property “L’Agneau des garrigues”, little Jeanne discovers the annual tradition of shaving sheep hair. The village festival announces the arrival of spring, to the sound of the “boudègue”, a bagpipe made of goatskin. This short documentary discusses a day on a farm in the south of France and explores the relationship between human beings and nature. Children and animals play together while the shepherds take care of their flocks, in perfect harmony. This is how Occitan traditions are perpetuated in Hérault.

On Christmas Eve, after the family reunions, the city falls asleep. But in an ordinary house, a boy named Jerry decides to stay awake to take a picture of Santa Claus. However, Jerry’s plans will not turn out exactly as he planned, because an unexpected guest will completely change his night.

SINOPSE / Synopsis: Fragile conta a história de uma garota de cerâmica que mora em uma pequena vila monótona que fica em um vale cercado por enormes montanhas. Um dia ela luta para ter coragem de escalar a montanha, mas cai se despedaçando em mil pedaços. Das cinzas ela surge – transformada em uma fada. Ela voa sobre a montanha para descobrir um mundo mágico e colorido à sua espera.

Fragile tells the story about a ceramic girl who lives in a small drab village that sits in a valley surrounded by huge mountains. One day she wrangles the courage to scale the mountain but falls shattering herself into a thousand pieces. From the ashes she arises – transformed into a fairy. She flies over the mountain to discover a magically colorful world awaiting.
